On the evening of December 11, the anti-fascist Maja from Jena was arrested in Berlin on charges from the Budapest trial and has been in custody since December 12. As the Jena solidarity group for the Budapest trial, we are calling for support. Send Maja letters and postcards! Mail from outside is very important for prisoners, whether at the beginning or in the course of their imprisonment. It gives them courage and strength. It also shows the authorities that our people are not isolated, but that many people are behind them and that what happens in prison is noticed outside. Lots of mail is also a form of protection.
Especially at the moment it is important that Maja is in solitary confinement!
We are not publishing Maja’s real name or the prison at this point. If you want to send mail, you can send it to us in the following two ways.
By post to:
Gefangenensolidarität Jena
c/o Infoladen Jena
Schillergässchen 5
07745 Jena
By e-mail (please ask for PGP key) to:
solibriefe-budapest@systemli.org
Please note the following information.
- Let us know in a note which name you would like to use for the letter to the prison and how we should send you the reply (e-mail address, postal address, in person).
- Maja does not use pronouns.
- Please enclose stamps (€ 0.85), which we will forward to Maja, and indicate in your letter to Maja how many stamps you have enclosed.
- No comments on the ongoing proceedings.
- The investigation is continuing, possibly also into a criminal association under § 129 StGB. This means that the mail will be read and may end up in the investigation files, including certain content and names. Make a conscious decision about how much you want to reveal about yourself. You can also write to prison under a different name (see above).
- Otherwise, don’t worry about what exactly you should write. The gesture alone will lift your spirits.
If you have any questions, please contact us by e-mail (see above).
