Dimtry Petrov has written a book about his son Dmitry “Leshy” Petrov. Parent’s Day – a book about eternal love, misunderstandings, friendship, debates, compassion, anger, and a boundless desire for freedom.

Dmitry “Leshy” Petrov, Finnbar “Çiya” Cafferkey, Cooper “Harris” Andrews – three anarchist fighters, three friends of different origins – Russian, Irish, and American – defended the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut against Putin’s aggression with weapons in their hands.

On April 19, 2023, all three internationalist volunteers went missing in action.

Two months earlier, Leshy’s parents visited him in Kyiv and spent ten incredibly beautiful and unforgettable days in the war-torn city. Their reunion was filled with love, memories, anger, fear, passion, and philosophical, political, historical, and ethical debates.

Leshy’s disappearance prompted his parents to travel to Ukraine again—in search of their beloved son. There, they learned many new things about him that they could never have imagined. They couldn’t find his body, but they understood the secret of comradeship and militancy.

Now Leshy, Çiya, and Cooper are heroes of the global libertarian movement. They are with us – on posters, in articles, in poems, in books, songs, memories of friends, and in films, on T-shirts, murals, and in Dmitry Petrov Sr.’s book, “The Parent´s Day.”

Dmitry Petrov Sr. will talk about the story of his son and present his book.
