New Year’s Eve to the jail!

16 Uhr – Abschiebehaftanstalt Hamburger Straße
18 Uhr – JVA Hammerweg Dresden (Rubinienhain)

We will meet at 4 pm at the deportation detention center. At 5 pm we’ll cycle together to Hammerweg, where the rally at the prison will start at 6 pm!

What a year and it’s already over again. So every year it’s New Year’s Eve to the prisons. Pack everything that makes noise, from singing voices to cooking pots and bangers. Prisons are lonely places and when everything outside is glittering, banging and celebrating, those inside should at least be able to enjoy a little solidarity and variety.

Most of them are in there because they are too poor to afford decent legal assistance, let alone bills, tickets, food or luxury goods. This is the bitter reality in Germany: if you are poor, you end up in prison for criminal offenses. The rich buy their way out. There has been a name for this for more than a hundred years: Class justice.

And it is currently really turning up the heat. Not only against the poor, but also against political opponents. In the Budapest and Antifa Ost proceedings, arrests, extraditions to the “RIGHT-wing state” Hungary and convictions are raining down: Maja, Hanna, Gino, Nanuk and Johann are imprisoned in West Germany, France and Hungary. They are accused of attacking Nazis in Budapest in February 2023. But we stand by their side and won’t leave them alone!

And while some are locked up for their anti-fascism, others have done nothing wrong and are still in the hole. Their crime is to flee or migrate to the FRG. That is why we are starting on December 31 at 4 pm at the deportation detention center. All those sitting there have done nothing wrong. They have simply crossed the borders of Europe in search of a better life. That is not a crime, but it is called “illegal migration”.

The racist shitshow of the ruling politicians this year is unparalleled. Migrants and refugees are being used as scapegoats to keep the CDU and SPD in power. We also stand in solidarity against this, because the right to stay and freedom of movement are non-negotiable. They are a human right!

Together against repression, prisons and exploitation!
Prisons to community gardens!
