Andreas is a former rebel long-term prisoner, who was 16 years behind bars until October 2014. He helped build the prisoners’ union (GG/BO) behind bars, led various hunger strikes against the lousy conditions in prison and took part in a solidarity hunger strike for prisoners in Greece. In autumn 2014, after his release, he met his current wife Jutta. Both decided to spend a quiet retirement in the south of Italy. At the end of December 2016 there was a dispute with his former employer, who attacked Andreas and strangled him. Andreas stabbed him in self-defence with a penknife. The employer died in the hospital three days later under mysterious circumstances, although it was said shortly after the act that he would survive. In April 2019 he was sentenced in Italy to 24 years for intended murder. Andreas was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Despite this, he did not receive any treatment in prison. After a long struggle, he has finally been transferred to a german prison to be closer to friends and family.
